Modernization of the infrastructure of STEM study programs at Riga First Medical College

In the first half of 2020, there was completed the last stage of the STEM project Modernization of the Infrastructure of STEM Study Programs at Riga First Medical College aiming at modernization and improvement of the infrastructure of the College.

On 21 June 2017, Riga First Medical College and the Central Finance and Contracting Agency concluded an agreement on the implementation of the European Regional Development Fund project Modernization of the Infrastructure of STEM study programs at Riga First Medical College.

Project implementation period: 01/10/2017–31/03/2019 (18 months)

The project implementation period was extended to 32 months (until 31 May 2020).

Project financing: EUR 408 578 including ERDF contribution of 85%

The project budget was increased by EUR 26 540

The aim of the project was to improve the study environment at Riga First Medical College and the infrastructure of the STEM health care first level professional higher education programs Medical Treatment, Pharmacy and Nursing, vocational secondary education program Dentistry and vocational education programs Dentistry and Nursing.

Project activities

  1. Improvement of premises for the enhancement of the study process (8 rooms were renovated).
  2. Development of extreme, intensive and palliative care module (3 sets of equipment necessary for the improvement of the study process were purchased and installed):
    1. EMS technical equipment
    2. newborn intensive care set (10 steps)
    3. geriatric and palliative care set.
  3. Purchase and installation of 1 set of 3D dental equipment in the CAD CAM system.
  4. Purchase of a simulator for the development of gynecological and obstetric skills – a maternity management set.
