Program aims

To train physician assistants as health care specialists who:

  • provide emergency medical care to the sick (victims) in life-threatening and critical conditions at the pre-hospital stage and in inpatient (emergency) wards;
  • can work independently and in collaboration with a doctor; diagnose, treat, independently use and prescribe medications, including highly effective ones, diagnose death, provide ongoing medical care and prevention to patients of both sexes and all ages at all three levels of health care (primary, secondary, tertiary) in collaboration with a doctor;
  • organize and manage their own and their colleagues' workload; educate patients, members of the public and team members; promote the development of their profession; continuously enhance their knowledge and skills;
  • are motivated to continue their education in their specialty.

Program objectives

To attain the aims of the study program, the College has identified the following key objectives:

  1. to ensure the implementation of a high-quality study process;
  2. to ensure the acquisition of the study program in accordance with the 4th professional qualification level of the professional standard of the medical assistant and with the requirements of employers;
  3. to provide knowledge and develop skills in health care and legislation;
  4. to provide knowledge and develop skills in research activities and application of management principles;
  5. to develop and enhance students' creative abilities and skills to effectively act in extreme situations;
  6. to develop students' skills in medical treatment, acute situations and chronic health disorders;
  7. to develop and enhance students' skills in performing medical manipulations in primary health care institutions;
  8. to develop and enhance students' skills in performing surgical manipulations in the EMS service and at admission departments;
  9. to give an opportunity to master writing of medical documentation in the EMS, outpatient service, NAF (National Armed Forces) Medical Service;
  10. to give an opportunity to acquire skills to organize and manage own and colleagues' workload in primary health care institutions, addmission departments and to motivate to participate in the organization of EMS activities;
  11. while implementating the study program to emphasize the preventive direction and to continuously renew the study content and research activities.
