A NURSING ASSISTANT is a professional health care worker who cares for patients in a team of care participants under the management of a nurse.

Profession contents
The nursing assistant has to:
- perform activities assigned by a nurse or assist a nurse in satisfying the basic needs of a patient,
- perform activities assigned by a nurse on patients' admission and discharge from a hospital,
- perform nursing care activities for patients of all ages,
- perform hygiene procedures for patients,
- provide first aid to patients,
- work in a team with other members of the care team, respecting cultural, ethical and professional principles.
The nursing assistant can work in:
- in primary health care institutions,
- inpatient facilities,
- rehabilitation facilities,
- childcare facilities.
