A NURSING ASSISTANT is a professional health care worker who cares for patients in a team of care participants under the management of a nurse.

1 year

Profession contents

The nursing assistant has to:

  • perform activities assigned by a nurse or assist a nurse in satisfying the basic needs of a patient,
  • perform activities assigned by a nurse on patients' admission and discharge from a hospital,
  • perform nursing care activities for patients of all ages,
  • perform hygiene procedures for patients,
  • provide first aid to patients,
  • work in a team with other members of the care team, respecting cultural, ethical and professional principles.

The nursing assistant can work in:

  • in primary health care institutions,
  • inpatient facilities,
  • rehabilitation facilities,
  • childcare facilities.
